Southwest Baggage policy
Southwest Airlines allows each passenger to bring up to one free carry-on bags, a personal item, and up to two checked bags without any checked baggage fee. The baggage policy for Southwest Airlines includes the following:
Carry-on baggage:
- Each passenger is allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item for free.
- The carry-on bag should not exceed 10 x 16 x 24 inches (25 x 40 x 60 cm).
- The personal item should not exceed 8 x 13 x 18 inches (20 x 33 x 45 cm).
- Both items must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of the passenger.
Checked baggage:
- Passengers can check up to two bags free.
- The weight of each checked bag should not exceed 50 pounds (23 kg).
- The maximum size of each checked bag should not exceed 62 inches (157 cm) in length, width, and height combined.
- Additional fees apply for bags weighing over 50 pounds or exceeding the size limit.
Oversized and overweight baggage:
- Oversized and overweight bags will be charged additional fees.
- Bags that exceed 100 pounds (45 kg) or 80 inches (203 cm) in length, width, and height combined will not be accepted as checked baggage.
Sports equipment:
- Southwest Airlines accepts sports equipment as checked baggage.
- Additional fees may apply for sports equipment.
